Job Opening: Communication and Information Systems Technician (Tactical Data Link)

Job Description:

Pacific Aerospace Consulting (PAC) is currently seeking a technician to become part of the PAC data link team. PAC is building on several years of experience supporting the Australian Defence Force creating highly secure communications networks using the latest in digital technology. It is expected that applicants are capable of assimilating current IT experience or education with on-the-job training provided by PAC. As the current work is Australian Defence related, prior ADF or APS-Defence experience and a current security clearance are highly desirable, however applicants must be at least 6 months removed from Defence or an APS-Defence related role. This will be of a permanent nature for the right person.

Required experience:

  • Basic Information Technology skills
  • Basic Communication Networks knowledge

Desired Skills & Expertise:

Network and Communications Engineering

  • Experience with Tactical Data Links
  • Link 16 and Link 11

Systems Architecture and Integration

  • CCNA Certification
  • Windows Server 2012
  • VMware
  • IP networking

Information System Test and Evaluation

    • Problem management
    • Fault finding

Practical manual application and cabling

  • Demonstrated practical skills
  • Laboratory experience

Australian security clearance

  • Ability to apply within three months of employment

Location: Fyshwick, ACT, Australia

Training: PAC is prepared to negotiate with a highly motivated, suitably qualified applicant who does not have the requisite experience with Tactical Data Links, but is assessed as having the ability to learn on-the-job in a demanding environment.

Remuneration: Negotiable. PAC is willing to work with new talent and foster their introduction to this new and challenging technology
